THE CONCEPT
Taking inspiration from the exam prompt "Electricity" and Sabato Visconti's work, this project explores the concept of "electric" human emotions: high-energy states of love, anger, sadness, and confidence. Rather than capturing traditional portraits, the goal was to simulate emotional static and digital energy running through each subject.
THE PROCESS
Original studio portraits were first shot to capture raw emotional expressions. The image files were then run through generative scripts in Processing, applying a pixel-sorting algorithm that manipulates image pixels based on brightness and saturation thresholds. Other experimental pixel-based distortion effects were applied on Photoshop, and Processing results were adjusted there too. The resulting glitched and stretched artifacts visually represent raw, erratic emotional currents.
